New and now available for just under 250 euros, Amazon wants to establish a display for the living area. The Alexa voice assistance service is integrated into it and the Amazon services Music, Video and Photo can be operated and used on it in the simplest way.
“Alexa, put UHT milk on the shopping list” – digital natives naturally keep their family shopping lists across people, via apps, and the voice assistant can populate and organize these lists. But can also order goods from Amazon or take out delivery subscriptions. Calendar items can be viewed and managed for the entire family, and voice and video calls can be made to family members using Amazon echo devices or smartphone apps.
A 1080p camera and microphones are built into the echo show 15″. It helps that echo devices are available for every situation in life and living – from the small echo dot, which you can sometimes get on sale for as little as 29 euros, to the new top-of-the-line echo show 15″ device, which was previously available with smaller display sizes.
The audio or video streaming services of the Amazon Group, some of which are already included in the “Prime” subscription plan, can be started and consumed in the simplest way via the echo devices or the voice assistant: “Alexa, play Eric Clapton in the bathroom” brings music to the assigned device in the bathroom, be it echo hardware or a compatible device from other providers, such as sonos.
The recipe function, in which popular recipes are displayed and preparation instructions can be faded in via video, speaks for a placement in the kitchen and dining area. The necessary ingredients, of course, go on the shopping list.
When the echo show is not in active use, photos stored in Amazon photos in the cloud can be accessed via the photo frame function to display them.
In combination with the hardware “ring” purchased from Amazon, door cameras and openers as well as webcams can be used.
The device can be used in portrait and landscape mode. Cameras and microphones can be disabled via a button in hardware if privacy is to be guaranteed.
